Role playing is an awesome way to expand your imagination and strengthen your writing skills. The topics/scenarios that can be covered are so vast I wouldn't know how to begin listing them. The difference between RPGs and regular story writing is that it involves multiple people. Instead of being in charge of all characters and deciding for yourself how the plot will unfold, other players contribute and build the story alongside you. While this forum is called a "fantasy RPG", all types of role plays are welcome here and any variety of topics can be covered so long as they are placed in the correct category (i.e. RPs about Vampires would go under "Fantasy").
